Our recent free haircut day, an outreach of Smoke Rise Baptist Church, went very well! Thank you to the volunteer stylists who provided haircuts for 22 clients. Everyone also was given a free lunch of hot dogs, chips and a drink. Also more than 60 families received food that day. We will be having another haircut day for children just before they return to school this fall.
The ministry is urgently in need of your donations of clothing, toys and other household items to sell in Lily’s Cloak thrift store.
As parents come in to Lilburn Co-op for assistance, we sometimes discover that one of their children is having a birthday, and we like to give them a “Birthday Box.” These are shoe boxes covered with birthday paper containing one nice gift and some other small items. Today, we have a very low supply.
If you or your small group can help, please collect gifts and other items, make up the boxes and attach a note indicating if it’s for a boy or a girl and what age the gift is appropriate for—we like to supply them to children of all ages. Then deliver them to the Co-op. This will help us tremendously, and will provide a little joy in the life of a child in our community.
Lilburn Co-op thanks Macy’s for their donation of $500; it is being used to help families in need with electric bills.
